This series marks the origin of E. Morisot’s Cow Collection and represents the most realist phase within her broader body of work. Morisot describes cows as the essence of the earth: “As long as there are cows, there is the green of the earth.” She recognized them as part of a living whole, moving peacefully and sustaining life around them.

Working in acrylic on canvas, Morisot builds layers that suggest depth and motion. The black and white cows emerge from the vivid blues and greens of the pastures surrounding her upstate New York home.
